  There was no real explanation, and we really were made to feel unwanted. This is definitely not a good business practice for a niche restaurant that is trying to win clientele.

  I have to be honest, when I first heard soul food was opening I didn't think there was enough of a market in Cranbrook. I was obviously wrong though because they've been open- and busy- for around a year now. I've heard lots of good things about this place, like how they source as much as they can locally and are organic. They are very farm to table style and have maybe half a dozen tables so it has an intimate feel to it. The tables are rather close together so don't go if you want lots of privacy. For their style of cooking they are reasonably priced, I saw $10-$25 on the menu. I ordered the breakfast waffles which was a decent size and rather tasty. The waffles were lighter than I thought they'd be but that's hardly a big deal. My friend had ordered the lamb sandwich and was also happy with her meal. The one part of the meal I wasn't a fan of was my drink, which was the London fog. I personally thought it was on the bland side, but due to them running out of milk and having to put a hold on our drinks until they could grab some from the store, they comped us our drinks anyways. Overall I was very happy with my experience.

  Truly amazing food! Delicious tastes and wonderful textures in both of our dishes. Locally sourced ingredients, locally owned, everything made in house. The price reflects the quality of the food and the obvious care and attention that goes into the menu (which changes bi-weekly!), worth every penny.

  Why are you open at that time if you are not serving meals? There were other patrons there so it wasn't like we walked in to a place that wasn't open yet. Definitely strange.

  We went in at 4:30pm for an early dinner and were told that they weren't doing dinner until 5pm and only snacks were available. The waitress was pleasant but obviously not interested in our business.
